Baltimore, MD - June 23, 2025 - Average gas prices in Baltimore have surged by 17.1 cents per gallon over the past week, reaching an average of $3.17 per gallon, according to GasBuddy's weekly survey of 663 stations in the area.
This marks an increase of 18.0 cents per gallon compared to a month ago, though prices remain 31.3 cents per gallon lower than the same time last year.
Nationally, the average price of gasoline has risen by 9.7 cents per gallon in the last week, now averaging $3.18 per gallon. The national average price of diesel has also seen a significant increase, climbing 16.1 cents to $3.649 per gallon.
Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, attributed the rise in prices to recent geopolitical tensions.
"With Israel and Iran trading attacks over the past week, oil prices have continued to climb—and gasoline prices are following suit, rising at a pace we haven’t seen since last summer," said De Haan. "Few pumps have been immune, with nearly all states seeing gas prices rise over the last week."
De Haan noted that the U.S. launching attacks on Iran could further influence oil prices.
"That said, I do not expect the apocalyptic spikes being circulated by some so-called influencers on social media—many of which are wildly inaccurate," he said. "For now, motorists should anticipate a continued steady climb in prices, with the national average likely to increase another 7 to 15 cents this week, while diesel could rise by 10 to 20 cents."
De Haan emphasized that these forecasts are subject to change based on global developments and encouraged motorists to stay informed through GasBuddy for the latest updates and insights.
