Baltimore, MD - June 18, 2025 - Gunfire in three different parts of the city injured five people within three hours on Tuesday, according to authorities.
The first shooting erupted near the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and Laurens Street at 7:17 p.m.
That's when three officers shot a male who allegedly had a gun and he shot back at them, injuring one of the officers, police said.
That person was taken to a local hospital where he was listed in critical condition on Tuesday night.
Meanwhile, the injured officer was taken to Shock Trauma.
Baltimore Police Department Commissioner Richard Worley said during a press conference outside of Shock Trauma that there had been a brief struggle between the officers and the armed male prior to the shooting.
Two hours later, at 9:16 p.m., police learned that a gunshot victim had sought medical treatment for his injuries at one of the city's hospitals.
At the hospital, they found two 22-year-old men with gunshot wounds. The men said they were in the 1700 block of West Baltimore Street when someone shot them, according to authorities.
That information prompted police to shut down the block so that officers could search it for cartridge casings.
Eventually, a K-9 officer and his dog assisted with the hunt for evidence.
Less than an hour later, a male of an undetermined age was fatally shot near the mouth of an alleyway in the 1900 block of East Lafayette Avenue, according to authorities.
Police said the shooting happened at 10 p.m. An ambulance took the gunshot victim to a local hospital where medical staff pronounced him dead, according to authorities.
Investigators place at least 34 evidence markers next to discarded cartridge casings and pieces of shrapnel at the shooting site. The three shootings impacted communities in West Baltimore, Southwest Baltimore, and East Baltimore.
