Baltimore, MD - May 27, 2025 -  The unofficial start of summer turned violent in Baltimore as police investigated six shootings over the Memorial Day weekend, leaving seven victims in their wake.

The violence began on Friday with a man shot and injured in Northeast Baltimore.

On Saturday, three men were shot in separate incidents across East, Southeast, and North Baltimore.

Early Sunday morning, police discovered a 50-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds inside his car near downtown. He later died at the hospital.

Bailey lives close to Sunday's shooting.

"Heard a couple of loud bangs. Didn’t really think anything of it. And you know, reality comes to the situation, somebody probably just got shot. It’s a little, little jarring when it happens so close," said Bailey.

"Kind of the nature of everything these days," said Bailey.

The weekend's violence culminated in a double shooting early Monday morning.

Just after 1:30 a.m. on Memorial Day, police responded to reports of gunfire in West Baltimore.

Officers found a man and a woman shot and killed in what appeared to be a drive-by shooting.

Witnesses reported seeing a "black vehicle discharging" in the area.

"It’s been a pretty busy weekend with the holiday and all that," one city resident said.

Despite the weekend's violence, the city's homicide count remains over 50 for the year, a 27% decrease from the same time last year.

All the shootings remain unsolved, and police urge anyone with information to contact Metro Crime Stoppers.
