Jerusalem, Israel - May 26, 2025 - Jerusalem was awash in blue and white on Monday afternoon as tens of thousands of people flooded the streets to mark Yom Yerushalayim, celebrating the reunification of the city in 1967. Despite the sweltering heat, the annual Flag Parade drew participants of all ages—children, teens, and adults—who gathered in the capital for an afternoon of music, dancing, and national pride.
Security was heavy throughout the day, with major streets in the city center closed to traffic to accommodate the massive crowds and ensure public safety. Police maintained a visible presence along the route, which wound through central Jerusalem and into the Old City.
Participants waved Israeli flags and sang patriotic songs as they made their way toward the Western Wall. Groups often stopped along the parade route to dance and chant, forming spontaneous circles of celebration that energized onlookers and passersby.
Israeli politicians made brief appearances during the day, but the heart of the event belonged to the people. The sheer number of participants—spilling across sidewalks and overflowing into alleyways—underscored the significance the day holds for many.
The celebrations culminated at the Western Wall, where the crowd surged into the plaza for evening prayers and continued singing. The iconic site, bathed in golden light and filled, provided a powerful backdrop to the national festivities.
