Baltimore, MD - May 1, 2025 - Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott is touting that April 2025 had the fewest ever homicides recorded in the city, with five deaths.

According to a press release from Scott's office, homicides are down 31.6% and non-fatal shootings are down 27.1% compared to last year, and 2025 has seen Baltimore endure the fewest number of homicides in recorded history.

So far in 2025, there have been 39 homicides, as compared to 57 at this same point in 2024.

There have been 102 non-fatal shootings so far in the city in 2025, down from 140 by May 1 in 2024.

“This continued progress is a direct result of our comprehensive violence prevention plan, and all who are working in partnership to reduce violence in Baltimore,” said Mayor Scott, via a press release. “That includes the men and women of the Baltimore Police Department, the entire community violence intervention ecosystem, the Attorney General, the State’s Attorney, and most importantly, the people of Baltimore. This is progress, but we aren’t stopping to celebrate. Five homicides in April is still five too many — and we will continue to use all tools at our disposal to prevent violence and save lives. Baltimore deserves nothing less.”

Since the Scott administration began in 2020, homicides have declined by 40%, and nonfatal shootings have declined by 43%.

The Mayor's Office also says that crime is down across the board, including robberies, burglaries, arson, carjackings, and auto thefts.
