Catonsville, MD. — March 13, 2025 - An officer was shot Thursday afternoon outside a Baltimore County police precinct.
County police said an armed person opened fire on an officer around 2:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the Wilkens Precinct on Walker Avenue in the Catonsville area.
SkyTeam 11 video showed rescue crews treating the officer in the precinct's parking lot before taking them to Shock Trauma in Baltimore.
Baltimore County Police Chief Robert McCullough provided an update shortly before 5 p.m., saying an officer was shot outside the precinct and was undergoing surgery.
Baltimore County Executive Kathy Klausmeier released a statement on X, saying: "A Baltimore County police officer was shot today in the Wilkens area — this kind of violence is shocking, outrageous and has no place in Baltimore County. County Executive Klausmeier has joined Chief McCullough at Shock Trauma, where the officer is being treated. We're praying for the officer, his family and his colleagues right now, and will share additional information as it becomes available."
Maryland State Police troopers and agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are also at the scene investigating.
University of Maryland-Baltimore police noted an increased presence of officers around Shock Trauma related to a patient transport and advised drivers to use alternate routes and expect traffic delays.
The Maryland Transit Administration reported a detour for the City Link Brown bus route at Lombard and Greene streets, and CityLink Navy, Yellow and LocalLink 76 will detour between Lombard and Paca streets.
