Baltimore, MD - Feb. 22, 2025 - Precautionary testing found elevated levels of legionella in three Baltimore City courthouses, according to a news release.

It’s the second time in around two months that the city has found elevated levels of legionella in its courthouses.

The courthouses reopened around a week later.

In a news release, officials said Baltimore will be conducting mitigation efforts such as flushing and chlorination treatments over the weekend.

Officials said in the release that the age of buildings and the design of plumbing systems likely contributed to the elevated levels.

The city will continue to monitor the levels in the coming months and determine if more efforts to mitigate the levels are needed.
