Baltimore, MD - Feb. 20, 2025 - In a troubling week for Baltimore, 394 individuals fell victim to various crimes, averaging 56 victims per day, according to recent data. The offenses ranged from simple theft to armed robbery, highlighting a concerning trend in the city.

In Highlandtown, a resident reported a burglary after discovering his shed had been broken into overnight on Monday. "Property that was taken was three bikes and other tools," the victim said, choosing to remain anonymous.

Just around the corner, a hit-and-run incident was captured on camera last Friday, shortly before midnight. The victim's truck was totaled in the incident involving a white Chevy Equinox.

A few hours later in North Baltimore, five juveniles were caught on camera breaking into several cars. Despite their efforts, they left empty-handed, leaving the victim with a $100 deductible to pay. "Until you hold them accountable, it’s gonna be the same stuff," the victim said, expressing frustration over the recurring incidents.

The crime wave extended beyond property crimes. In the same period, 31 people were victims of robbery. "We become prey for them," one resident said. "And they’re going to fight and go after what they want."

Despite the surge in crime, robbery arrests have decreased by 25 percent over the past week, and larceny arrests are also down. "Our insurance is going up because of this," another resident said. "But until they do something, it’ll keep happening."

Meanwhile, the city continues to see a decline in homicides and non-fatal shootings.

The latest data from Baltimore Police shows that in a seven-day period, homicides were down 80 percent from this time last year.
