Baltimore, MD - Feb. 19, 2025 - Harrowing home surveillance video shows the moment a 29-year-old woman was run over by an Amazon delivery driver in Baltimore’s Butchers Hill neighborhood.
The incident took place on Feb. 18 around 9:30pm at the intersection of E. Pratt and S. Chester Street. Footage from a motion sensor ring doorbell camera picks up as the stop light along Pratt Street turns green and the Amazon truck begins slowly plowing over a pedestrian in the crosswalk.
“That’s horrible,” area resident Josh Webster said as he watched the video in disbelief, “That almost seemed fake. It's like, you don't want to believe it, you know.”
The driver can be seen briefly hesitating before running over the woman with his back wheels as well.
“He’s like, over top of her,” Webster said. “Then he runs her over again.”
While the woman cries out in agony, the driver gets out to assess the situation. Then, gets back into his truck and drives away.
“He had to know that there, you know, something was obviously wrong. Especially driving a truck around all day. You can, you could differentiate, you know, between a pothole and a person. I'm pretty sure,” Webster said.
Police and emergency personnel arrived on scene shortly after the incident. According to a spokesperson with the Baltimore Police Department, the victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police also say, at this time, the vehicle’s Tag/ID number remains unknown and their search for a suspect continues.
“They should definitely be held accountable,” Webster said. “I just pray that that woman's okay.”
Amazon spokesperson Austin Stowe released the following statement:
We were made aware of this terrible incident today. The driver in question has been suspended from delivering on our behalf and we're working with his employer and law enforcement as they investigate.
