Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., has accepted an invitation to meet with President-elect Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago, the senator's office confirmed to The National News Desk (TNND) Thursday.

Sen. Fetterman said in a statement the meeting was proposed by Trump. The senator noted he represents "all Pennsylvanians," not just Democrats in the state.

I’ve been clear that no one is my gatekeeper," he said. "I will meet with and have a conversation with anyone if it helps me deliver for Pennsylvania and the nation.”

It is not immediately clear when the meeting will occur. The meeting will mark the first known time a sitting Democratic senator has met with Trump at Mar-a-Lago since the November election, according to CBS News, which first reported the news.

The news of the meeting comes as Sen. Fetterman has expressed increasing openness to working with Trump and members of his incoming administration. The senator during an appearance on Fox News Tuesday said it would be "responsible" to discuss Trump's idea of expanding the U.S. into Greenland.

“There’s a lot of talk about Greenland, for example, and there’s a lot of freak-outs and of course I would never support taking it by force, but I do think it’s a responsible conversation,” he said. “If they were open to acquiring it — whether just buying it outright — I mean if anyone thinks that’s bonkers it’s like, well, remember the Louisiana Purchase?”

Sen. Fetterman last year also met with several of Trump's cabinet picks, including defense secretary nominee Pete Hegseth and director of national intelligence nominee Tulsi Gabbard. He wrote via X in December he believed it was "appropriate and the responsibility of a U.S. Senator" to do so.

“My votes will come from an open-mind and an informed opinion after having a conversation with them,” he added. "That’s not controversial, it's my job.”
