Baltimore, MD - Dec. 23, 2024  - Police recovered illegal items, including a stolen vehicle and a loaded AK-47, from a 20-year-old man during a traffic stop in Towson on Thursday.

On December 19, officers stopped a vehicle near Meteor Court and Cloister Road, leading to the discovery of a stolen vehicle, a loaded AK-47, an AK-47 magazine with 10 rounds of ammunition, and a “Glock switch” device that converts a semi-automatic firearm into a fully automatic one.

The suspect, 20-year-old Jaquan McCain, is being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center. He faces multiple weapons charges, including being a minor in possession of a firearm and possession of an assault weapon.

This traffic stop follows increased police patrols in Towson after last Tuesday’s mass shooting on Loch Raven Boulevard, which left one man dead and nine others injured. Police believe the victims in the shooting were traveling together in a vehicle that crashed into the side of a funeral home before catching fire.

Detectives are continuing their investigation and ask anyone with information to contact Baltimore County Police at 410-887-4636. Anonymous tips can also be provided to Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-756-2587, with eligibility for a cash reward of up to $2,000. Residents may submit tips through the Baltimore County Police Department’s iWATCH program.
