Baltimore, MD - Nov. 27, 2024 - The Maryland Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Administration, the Governors Highway Safety Association and Lyft have teamed up to offer $20 rideshare credits this holiday season.
Starting at 4 p.m. this afternoon, Marylanders can claim the credit to use Lyft for a safe ride option.
To claim the $20 credit, users should open the Lyft app, go to the “Payment” menu, and enter the code ‘MAKEAPLAN2024’ in the “Add Lyft Pass” section, which will then automatically apply to the user’s account.
It must be redeemed within 24 hours.
This credit comes in response to concerns about the over 11,300 DUI arrests in Maryland this year, with 132 people dead and over 2,400 injured due to impaired driving in 2023 in the state.
MDOT says that more than 13,423 people were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs in 2023, with 1,616 of those arrests occurring between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day.
