"Leadership matters and making sure that we have the right partners as our Congressional delegation is hugely important to me as the governor. I have such extraordinary partners with Sen. Van Hollen and Sen. Cardin, and we are excited to have Angela Alsobrooks joining the delegation as Sen. Cardin gets a well-deserved time off. Having bold, energetic, thoughtful leaders sitting in these seats. It matters to the people of our state. So, I am really excited to have someone who is a proven leader, a proven bold leader, join our delegation," Gov. Moore said, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Sen. Cardin and Olszewski.

U.S.Maryland House Race
On Nov.5, Marylanders from the 2nd district will decide who will represent the state in Capitol Hill.
The Democratic nominee, Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski Jr., is running against GOP candidate Kimberly Klacik.
Olszewski promises to bring something new to Congress.
"I do think I sort of represent a new generation of leadership," Olszewski told FOX45. "I'm raising a young daughter in our public school system. I was a public-school teacher, so having that fresh perspective is something I bring to this race."
He is committed to fighting for Marylanders on issues top of mind this election, such as the rebuild of the Francis Scott Key Bridge and the local economy.
"The cost of living is a huge issue for a lot of families out there. Finding ways we can support our families with better family sustaining wages and more energy production locally, making sure we're doing things to keep the cost of goods and services down," he said.
Olszewski also vows to invest in law enforcement federally.
"We know that supporting law enforcement is important, so sustained federal investment for law enforcement and their work. The people and the technology, but also the wrap around services," he said.
On reproductive freedom, Olszewski said he is eager to take action to protect women's right to choose on a federal level.
I'm a firm believer that congress needs to act with urgency to codify the protections of Roe v. Wade. It's something I'll do as a member of congress," he said.
As it relates to immigration,Olszewski would support a bipartisan immigration bill if it comes to a vote in the chamber.
"We should secure our border, but we also can do so in a way to provide other resources, so people who have been here their entire lives or seek to come here legally and want to create a family and a life for themselves, that we provide the processes to do that efficiently and effectively," he said.
The nominee has been endorsed by organizations like local labor union SEIU 500, and prominent political figures such as U.S. Senate candidate Angela Alsobrooks and Congressman Steny Hoyer.
"I am proud to endorse Johnny Olszewski for the U.S. House of Representatives. Johnny's unwavering commitment to his community, combined with his pragmatic approach and dedication to public service, make him the right candidate to represent Maryland's 2nd District and a valuable addition to Team Maryland in Congress. I am confident that Johnny will fight tirelessly for economic opportunity, reproductive freedom, and a brighter future for all Marylanders," Hoyer said.
