Baltimore, MD - Oct. 29, 2024 - A community safety initiative, which has successfully installed over 250 RING doorbell cameras throughout the community, marked its completion with a ceremonial final installation on Tuesday at 2624 Cecil Avenue in Baltimore.
State Senator Cory V. McCray joined community leaders and local contractors for this milestone.
"This initiative demonstrates how state support can directly enhance the safety and security of our communities," said State Senator Cory V. McCray in a news release. "The installation of these 250 RING doorbell cameras speaks to our effort to enhance public safety -- providing residents with peace of mind while creating a more secure environment for everyone."
This security program in the Coldstream Homestead Montebello community was made possible by the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development’s Community Health and Safety Works program.
The program provides grants to local governments and nonprofits to implement crime prevention strategies through physical improvements, operational activities, and community vigilance and maintenance.
“This initiative creates an additional layer of security that sends a clear message to lawbreakers that we are vigilant in our effort to deter crime and foster a sense of safety and connection among residents,” said Mark Washington, Executive Director of the Coldstream Homestead Montebello Community Corporation in a news release. “It also strengthens our collective effort to build a safer, more resilient community for everyone.”
