A significant cyber outage on Friday caused widespread disruptions to emergency 911 services across the United States and non-emergency call centers, affecting various IT systems globally. Countries impacted include the US, India, Australia, Germany, and the UK, among others. Critical sectors such as airlines, healthcare, and emergency services experienced major interruptions. The source of the outage is suspected to be a failure in CrowdStrike, a cybersecurity platform that offers solutions for Microsoft Windows.

In Delhi, the technical outage in CrowdStrike and Microsoft 365 led to system failures at Delhi, Mumbai and other airports of the country. IndiGo, Akasa Air have shared that technical error has impacted the check-ins and other operations at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport. The airport staff have shifted to manual check-ins now.

Meanwhile, Mumbai airport sources have informed that they are working fine so far. It is select airlines which are facing issue.

"Our systems across the network are impacted by an ongoing issue with Microsoft Azure, which has resulted in increased wait times at our contact centres and airports. You may experience slower check-ins and longer queues. We are all hands-on deck and are working relentlessly to restore stability and normalcy. Our digital team is also coordinating closely with Microsoft Azure to resolve these issues swiftly. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time," the IndiGo said in an official statement on X.

Apart from this, Akasa Air also released a statement and said, "Due to infrastructure issues with our service provider, some of our online services, including booking, check-in and manage booking services will be temporarily unavailable. Currently we are following manual check-in and boarding processes at the airports and hence request passengers with immediate travel plans to reach the airport early to check-in at our counters. We sincerely regret the inconvenience caused and want to assure you that our teams are working with our service provider to resolve the same at the earliest."

SpiceJet said that they are also facing technical challenges with their service provider, affecting online services including booking, check-in, and manage booking functionalities.

"As a result, we have activated manual check-in and boarding processes across airports. We kindly request passengers with upcoming travel plans to arrive at the airport earlier than usual to complete check-in at our counters..." the airline said in a post on X.
