After becoming a convicted felon on Thursday, Donald Trump plans to speak Friday morning in front of Trump Tower.
Trump announced his plans to speak at 11 a.m. after he was convicted of 34 counts of falsifying business records in connection to a scheme to cover up an extramarital affair with porn star Stormy Daniels in 2006 during his 2016 presidential campaign.
The sentencing phase is set for July 11. He faces up to four years in prison or probation.
Legal experts believe Trump will not serve prison time because he has no criminal history and the crimes are considered non-violent.
Trump took to Truth Social after the guilty verdict, with a caption stating: THIS WAS A DISGRACE—A RIGGED TRIAL BY A CONFLICTED JUDGE WHO IS CORRUPT. WE WILL FIGHT FOR OUR CONSTITUTION—THIS IS LONG FROM OVER!"
"The real verdict is going to be on November 5," said a defeated Trump.
The conviction, and even imprisonment, would not bar Trump from continuing his pursuit of the White House. The Republican National Convention, which will open four days after his July 11 sentencing date in New York, adopted rules last year that didn't include any specific provisions if its presumptive nominee is convicted of a crime.
Even if he is elected president again, Trump will not be able to pardon himself of state charges in New York. The president's pardon power applies only to federal crimes.
