Baltimore, MD - May 13, 2024  - As you may already be aware, the JCC in Park Heights is about to undergo a major transformation as it becomes the home of The Associated’s new headquarters.

In addition to new staff offices and community meeting spaces, our J Sports & Wellness facilities will also be renovated and expanded. More details about these changes will be shared with you very soon, but first we want to provide you with updates on what to expect on your upcoming visits to the JCC.

Here’s what you can expect beginning Sunday, May 19

Temporary Entrance
Starting Sunday, May 19, our main lobby entrance will be closed. All members and guests will enter through the glass atrium doors, to the left of our current entrance.

Directional signs will be posted to guide you to our new temporary entry point and our new Member and Guest Services check-in desk.

We expect the new permanent JCC entrance to be completed in 6-9 months.

Accessibility Accommodations
Anyone with physical challenges is welcome to use our accessible ramp to enter the atrium; it’s about 200 feet past the new temporary entrance.

The construction zone in our front lot will make our current accessible parking spots unavailable during this phase. Limited accessible parking spots will be available in our back lot.  Please connect with our membership team at 410.500.5910 or member_services@jcc.org to discuss your eligibility to utilize these parking spaces.

Fitness Center & Fitness Too Access
On Sunday, May 19, the first entrance to the Fitness Center will be closed for several weeks and exclusive access will be through the second entrance, opposite the Men’s Locker Room.

Please note the Boxing Room will close once construction begins.

Access to Fitness Too will move from the Fitness Center to the main lower-level hallway. The entrance will be to the left when coming down either the stairs or elevator.

Group Fitness & Racquetball
On the afternoon of Thursday, May 23, the space housing Studio One will close temporarily for renovations.

Friday, May 24 will be the final day that our two racquetball courts will be available before closing to make room for a new group fitness studio.

Most of the fitness classes that take place in Studio One will now take place in other studios or in the gymnasium. Please check the weekly group fitness schedule for new class locations.

The entrance to the gymnasium can be accessed at the end of the Fitness Center hallway, on the left side, just past Men’s Locker Room. Take the stairs one flight up.

Basketball, Volleyball & Table Tennis
Due to increased use of the gymnasium by our group fitness classes during this time, volleyball and table tennis will not be offered after May 21. Volleyball will be available in Owings Mills once the David Max Court opens, by mid-June.

Starting May 27, weeknight and morning basketball may be limited. The Owings Mills gymnasiums will have hours available during this time. Please be sure to check the gym schedule at jcc.org/schedules.

Future Construction Plans
The construction will take place in stages with final completion expected in Summer/Fall of 2025. The next phase will include changes to Fitness Too and then the main Fitness Center. To learn more about the current timeline visit jcc.org/construction.

Please know we are doing everything we can to minimize your inconvenience while continuing to provide you with all the quality sports and wellness services you’ve come to expect. We think you will be excited by all the new upgrades coming your way!
