Baltimore's Former Deputy Mayor Set To Take The Helm As New Director Of Public Works

Baltimore, MD – Mar. 20, 2024 - (FOX45) Baltimore's Board of Estimates is poised to endorse Khalil Zaied as the new Director of Public Works. Zaied, who has held various roles in city government previously, including Transportation Director, Deputy Mayor of Operations, and Director of General Services, is currently serving as the acting director. Despite past challenges, including oversight of a controversial speed camera program, former Mayor Jack Young believes Zaied is capable of leading DPW effectively.

Once contract is approved his nomination will be heard by the Rules and Oversight committee chaired by Councilman Yitzy Schleifer for approval or rejection

If confirmed, Zaied will earn an annual salary of $245,000.
