BGE Working To Restore Power To 2,300 Customers During High Winds In Maryland

BGE is reporting that at least 2,300 customers are currently without power due to high winds moving throughout Maryland.

BGE appreciates customers' patience as crews and contractors work around the clock to restore service as safely and quickly as possible, representatives said in a recent release. The March 10-11 windstorm continues to impact customers, with 2,300 customers currently out of service as of 11:00 a.m.

Since the storm began on Sunday, BGE says they have completed more than 200 repair jobs and restored service to more than 30,000 customers—over 90 percent of the customers impacted by the wind event.

BGE anticipates the vast majority of the remaining outages to be restored by Monday evening at 11:00 p.m.

High wind gusts are expected to continue throughout this afternoon with conditions improving this evening and early Tuesday morning.

The safety of our customers and our employees is always our top priority.

• High winds may cause damage to trees, which could damage electrical equipment causing outages and damage across BGE’s service area.
• BGE reminds customers that certain types of work, such as repairs requiring the use of bucket trucks, cannot be safely performed during high winds.
• In that case, BGE will begin restoring service as soon as conditions are safe.
• Removing tree debris must be completed before crews can begin repairing damaged equipment. This is a labor- and time-intensive process that can extend the duration of certain outages.
