As the hotel secures new flooring, furnishings, lighting, and décor for every room, each of the previously used items is finding a new home with folks in need. The hotel's General Manager, Mark Mahoney, working with Ehrenfeld Companies' Katie Hollis, has coordinated a community campaign to support organizations and families, both local and regional, with the hundreds of headboards, dressers, desks, nightstands, chairs, lamps, and artwork in gently used condition. For most, these furnishings of solid wood and quality would not be affordable.
For Beis Medrash of Owings Mills, the cabinetry, dressers, and side tables are outfitting their new yeshiva. Rabbi Neuman came with a dozen or so of his students with one mission in mind, to outfit the dorms for the new school. With trucks filled to the brim, the donation from the Doubletree saved the school from investing thousands of dollars to furnish their rooms.
The Furniture Shadchan has assisted in ensuring a family who recently lost their home due to fire can ease their new start with some critical pieces. There's also been a few engaged couples, folks looking to upgrade their older pieces, or start a new home away from home, that have come to take advantage of the many pieces being donated by the DoubleTree.
The word has quickly spread over social media, welcoming hundreds of community members for pick-up slots throughout the recent weeks.
