70 Soldiers From The Shura Camp Who Accompanied The Levayos and Memorials of Fallen IDF Soldiers, Lit The Sixth Chanuka Candle At The Kotel (Photos)

Jerusalem, Israel - Dec. 12, 2023  - This evening, the sixth Chanukah candle-lighting event was held in the presence of Rabbi Yitzhak David Grossman from Migdal Haemek, Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, the Rabbi of the Kotel and holy sites, Bezalel Smotrich, the Minister of Finance, Suli Eliav, the Director of the Western Wall Heritage Foundation, Brigadier General Eyal Morduch from the unit for fallen soldiers, Brigadier General Rabbi Shimon Almaliah from the military rabbinate, Lieutenant Colonel Kobi Blaich, the Commander of the "Balak" Battalion, as well as families and the general public.

Additionally, 70 soldiers from the "Balak" Battalion of the Shura Camp, along with approximately 200 family members, participated in the event. This battalion is responsible for assisting bereaved families and organizing funerals and memorials for fallen IDF soldiers. They have been supporting these families since Simchat Torah.

The candle lighting ceremony will occur every evening during Chanukah at 16:30 at the Western Wall Plaza and will be broadcast live on the Western Wall website, www.thekotel.org.
