Baltimore, MD - Dec. 6, 2023 - (PP) An elderly man in Baltimore County became the first cold-related fatality of the 2023-2024 winter season in Maryland, according to the Maryland Department of Health. The man, aged between 70 and 80, succumbed to cold-related illness as temperatures dropped into the 30s overnight. Residents are advised to take precautions, such as limiting outdoor exposure, dressing warmly, and seeking information about warming centers. Residents should use caution while using various heat sources to stay warm to avoid fires, electrical injuries, burns, or carbon monoxide poisoning.
