Akiva Schwartz, 17, was injured Thursday morning by shrapnel during a shooting attack in Jerusalem.

The attack left three people dead and several others injured.

Schwartz lives in the Kiryat Moshe neighborhood of Jerusalem, and studies at the Netiv Hatorah yeshiva.

Speaking from his hospital bed, Schwartz said, "I missed the bus and waited at the bus stop. I heard gunshots, I turned around and saw a man holding a pistol. I started to run and suddenly I felt a pain in my leg. I started to limp."

"I saw many ambulances arriving and I banged on the window of one of them. I told them that I was injured in my foot, and they treated me and took me to the hospital."
