Foreign political sources told CNN in Arabic this afternoon (Monday) that more than 40 of the hostages who were kidnapped during the October 7 massacre are being held by groups other than Hamas.

Dozens of the hostages are reportedly in the hands of the Islamic Jihad terrorist organization, while an unspecified number are being held by Gazan citizens who are not affiliated with a terrorist organization.

The source also noted that there is an issue with the list of the hostages who are to be released today which may delay their release.

Israeli officials confirmed that there is an issue with the list and stated that Israel would not accept a situation in which Hamas violates the terms of the hostage deal.

The list presented by Hamas includes only eleven people, including nine children and two elderly women, down from 13 in the previous groups who were released. In addition, Israel objects to the separation of families who are being held hostage.

Two such families were separated when the second group of hostages were released on Saturday. Israel objected to this but still agreed to accept the third and fourth groups of hostages.

So far 40 Israelis and 18 Thai nationals have been released by Hamas. Thirteen Israelis have been released each day, while another hostage who is a dual Russian-Israeli citizen was released at the behest of Russian President Vladimir Putin, who has supported Hamas since the massacre on October 7.
