Baltimore, MD - Nov. 6, 2023  - During a talk with Mr. Jason Reitberger, a YMC parent who spent the first two weeks of the war with his family in Israel, he shared a powerful message from the Rambam in Hilchos Teshuva. The Rambam says that a person who separates himself from the Jewish people, even if he does no aveiros, has no portion in the world to come. The students took this lesson to heart by finding meaningful ways to get involved and maintain a strong connection to our brothers and sisters in Israel during these trying times.

With the guidance of their rebbeim, students have each taken on a meaningful kabbalah for personal improvement. Just as our brothers and sisters in Israel have had to accept new realities, students chose to take on one special action in their own lives in which to focus on personal and spiritual growth.

The entire YMC family also has taken on daily recitation of several prakim of Tehilim so that the entire Sefer Tehilim will be said every day.

This week, students used the knowledge and skills gained in their Halacha classes to make IDF-approved Tzitzis for our brothers in uniform. The boys were placed at different stations to help assemble the Tzitzis, each working diligently to complete a total of 105 Tzitzis. By the end of the program, each of the boys learned how to tie kosher tzitzis knots, allowing them to create Tzitzis for themselves and others outside of school.

May our Zechus to make Tzitzis be a Zechus for the IDF and Kol Beis Yisroel.
And may we merit a change from:
צָּרָה לִרְוָחָה
וּמֵאֲפֵלָה לְאוֹרָה
וּמִשִּׁעְבּוּד לִגְאֻלָּה
