Baltimore, MD - Oct. 4, 2023 - Each October, SECU (pronounced see-que) hosts Kindness Month, a campaign that hopes to inspire 500,000 acts of kindness throughout the state of Maryland in 2023. During the annual campaign SECU performs one grand act of kindness to surprise and delight a local community organization, nonprofit, or group in need.
Sarah Ryan, AVP of Community Engagement at SECU MD Foundation, presented Amy Shlossman, president and chief operating officer of Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, with a $15,000 check, representative of the parking costs covered over the course of the week. SECU’s Kindness team will be surprising visitors as they leave the lots that day.
SECU’s Kindness Campaign has also “sprinkled” kindness to Sinai’s Emergency Department, providing over 300 pairs of Comrad compression socks to the healthcare heroes hard at work spending long hours on their feet in the ED.
“Visiting a hospital can be a stressful experience, so this gift of free parking gives patients and visitors one less thing to worry about. We are so grateful to SECU and the SECU MD Foundation for choosing Sinai for their ‘grand act of kindness’ this year. Kindness is contagious, and Sinai Hospital is so proud to serve our community, including working with partners in initiatives that can spread kindness ,” says Amy Shlossman, president and chief operating officer of Sinai Hospital.
