Baltimore, MD - Sept. 20, 2023 - The Public Safety and Government Operations Committee is set to discuss the current crisis of equipment and staff shortages in the city's emergency services with acting fire chief James Wallace, according to WBAL. The meeting, scheduled for later this Wednesday, will address the over 250 vacant positions, and the state of the city's emergency apparatus, some of which are out of service awaiting backordered parts. While the union sees the situation as a crisis, the city refers to it as a challenge.
