Hundreds of Palestinian rioters gathered along the border of the Gaza Strip for a seventh consecutive day on Wednesday afternoon, as Gazan workers remained unable to transit into Israel.
Amid the riots, Palestinian terrorists reportedly launched incendiary and explosive balloons from Gaza toward Israel.
Due to the continued violence, the Erez crossing, which thousands of Gazans with work permits use to exit and enter Israel, has been closed for three additional days since the end the standard closure of the crossing on Rosh Hashanah.
Additionally, on Wednesday, a Palestinian resident of Jabaliya in Gaza who was in Israel with a work permit was arrested while carrying a butcher's knife at the Savidor train station in Tel Aviv.
On Tuesday, a 25-year-old Palestinian identified as Youssef Salem Radwan was killed amid riots on the Gaza border, reportedly after being shot by Israeli forces.
In the Aqabat Jabr refugee camp near Jericho, a Palestinian was killed in armed clashes with Israeli forces on Wednesday morning, according to Palestinian reports.
Hamas warned after the violence on Tuesday in Gaza and the West Bank that "the escalation of the occupation’s crimes and terrorism against our people and our sanctities, especially the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, will not pass without a response."
Sources in the Palestinian factions told Haaretz on Wednesday that the riots on the border were being conducted in order to amplify the economic demands of the factions and that the factions are not interested in a larger conflict with Israel now.
