Baltimore, MD - Aug. 3, 2023 - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration has announced the implementation of new speed cameras along MD-100, from the Howard County line to MD 170 (Aviation Boulevard) in Anne Arundel County, reports FOX45. The Maryland SafeZones Automated Speed Enforcement system will begin operation on Monday, August 7, with a 21-day warning period before Maryland State Police start issuing citations on Monday, August 28. The system will detect vehicles exceeding the authorized speed limit of 55 mph and may issue citations with a $40 civil penalty to the registered owners. The aim of Maryland SafeZones is to raise driver awareness about the impact of speed-related crashes in work zones. For further information, visit https://safezones.maryland.gov.
