Most of the Israeli public believes that Operation Shield and Arrow should continue as long as necessary, a new poll by Ulpan Shishi showed.

When asked what they believe Israel should do now, 54% of Israelis said that the operation should continue as long as necessary, while 29% - less than one-third - said a ceasefire agreement should be reached as soon as possible. Just 7% of Israelis said that Israel should send send soldiers into Gaza, and 10% said they do not know what should be done.

When asked whether they support a prisoner swap in which Israel would release prisoners, including convicted terrorists, in exchange for the two missing Israelis and the bodies of two soldiers, 40% of respondents said they support such a deal, while 34% said they oppose such an exchange and 26% said they do not know.

In addition, 61% gave Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a positive rating for how he is managing the operation in Gaza, while 30% rated his performance negatively and 9% said they do not know what rating to give.

Approximately half of Israelis believe that Israel strengthened its deterrence with Operation Shield and Arrow, while 35% said Israel did not strengthen its deterrence and 14% said they do not know.

Asked whether National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir's (Otzma Yehudit) threat influenced the decision to begin the operation, half of Israelis said that it had no effect, while 28% said it did have an impact and 22% said they do not know whether it had an effect.
