Baltimore, MD - May 4, 2023 - In recent years, the great Gaon and Tzadik Rav Michoel Forshlager, Baltimore's hidden gem, has experienced a remarkable resurgence in fame. Arriving in Baltimore in 1921 and passing away in 1958, the Tzadik was virtually forgotten from the world. In the past five years, thanks to the efforts of the Chasidisher Kolel of Baltimore, Khal Chassidim, and especially Rav and Rosh Hakolel Rav Jungreis, shlita, his Kever has become a place for many to pray. The Bnai Israel Cemetery on Southern Ave has been the site of this pilgrimage, with thousands paying their respects on the yahrtzeit and people coming throughout the year.
Due to the significant increase in visitors, the small box to light candles leiluy nishmas this great tzadik has become too small. Thanks to the efforts of generous individuals and coordinated by Pinny Kreizel, Rav Forshlager's descendant, a beautiful and large candle box was purchased for the kever. This spacious metal box, lovingly designed and built to last, will have space for dozens of candles at a time. The box also has drawers to store candles and tehillims for the benefit of those who pay their respects to the niftar. May the merit of Rav Forshlager be a blessing for all those who contributed with their time and energy to make this happen, and may they be blessed with everything good for themselves and their families.

As Rav Forshlager's memory continues to grow and the cemetery becomes a destination for thousands, we continue to work with the cemetery on preparing suitable accommodations for the visitors, including working facilities and a chapel to daven.
