The Israeli government has approved legislation that will allow for the rebuilding of four northern Samaria settlements destroyed in the 2005 Disengagement, according to JPost. The bill, which has passed the Ministerial Legislative Committee, will move to the Knesset for a preliminary reading, followed by committee discussions and three further readings before being passed into law. The sites of the four settlements are currently in a closed military zone and the legislation would lift the ban on Israeli civilians in the area. The legislation has been viewed as symbolic of the Gaza pullout in 2005, in which 21 settlements were evacuated.
