Important update!
We know this topic has already been discussed, unfortunately time is running out!
As many of you know, Councilman Izzy Patoka has proposed legislation that would completely ban plastic shopping bags from all stores.
We understand how much our customers heavily rely on our shopping bags; therefore, banning them would forever change the way you shop and create a new level of challenges our customers have never had to face before.
As you may have already seen or heard yesterday, we’ve joined efforts with our friends at Seven Mile Market and local leaders to advocate for you, our community, our friends, and our families.
We held a Zoom meeting together with Seven Mile Market, community leaders and Councilman Izzy Patoka regarding the proposed plastic bag ban. Our goal was to express to the Councilman the way this would adversely affect our customers.
Despite many requests from the community that the councilman reconsider his ban, our feeling after the meeting was not encouraging...
Nevertheless, we are not giving up on this important topic!
As community members, you have the right to speak up and express your concerns.
A bag ban would mean that you will no longer receive free bags at checkout.
Your options would either be to bring in your own bags that may pose a health risk OR pay as much as $2 per box or new cloth bag.

Unfortunately, the consumer concerns that were raised have not impacted the progression of the ban, YET!
But there is still a little bit of time left.
The final meeting of the council on this topic before it goes to vote is being held on January 31st.
If this is an issue that is important to you, NOW is the last chance to make your voice heard.
