Journalist and Temple Mount activist Arnon Segal was detained and brought to an Old City police station as he was wrapping up a routine visit to Judaism's holiest site.

For Segal, who regularly visits the site, this is the first time being arrested for his activism.

Earlier, Segal filmed two Jews who prostrated and loudly recited the "Shema" prayer at the sight and were removed by police.

Tom Nisani, Director of Biyadenu, stated: "Israel Police's Jerusalem District Chief and the Officers of the David Precinct have lost their restraint, this morning they arrested two Jews who exercised their freedom of worship, and after that, they detained Arnon Segal, a known journalist, and guide who visits the Temple Mount and was never arrested or detained. Someone has to stop this madness, and that someone is Itamar Ben-Gvir."

Segal took to Facebook after his detention, writing, "I was just released from police detention. I was detained earlier at the exit to the Temple Mount for 'suspected actions that may disturb the peace,' and my cell phone was confiscated. The actual reason for my detention: I filmed an injustice by police against innocent civilians on the mount. I was released thanks to my journalist certificate, but what would a civilian who doesn't have one do?"
