Baltimore, MD - July 20, 2022 - Only twenty years ago, a small group of Kollel yungeleit started a Shabbos minyan that was tailored to their individual spiritual needs. It was a minyan designed for B’nei Torah who were dedicated to furthering their growth while outside of the Yeshiva setting. Under the leadership of HaRov Yosef Berger, Shlit”a, Kehillas Kol Torah was created, forever changing the Ruchniyus landscape and trajectory of the greater Baltimore community. Kol Torah has blossomed into a unique shul that is a respected communal center for spiritual growth. The beautiful blend of yungeleit and Baal habaatim davening, learning, and growing in their Avodas Hashem together creates an inspiring and contagious feeling that is palpable as one enters the Shul.

Kol Torah, colloquially referred to as “Rabbi Berger’s Shul,” is unmistakably shaped by its Rov, Rov Yosef Berger. Rabbi Berger is recognized as a world-class Talmid Chacham whose halachic decisions and eitzah are sought out by both fellow Rabbanim and laypeople alike. Over the course of a week, Rabbi Berger answers hundreds of shaylos and offers guidance to members of the extended Baltimore community as well as community leaders across the country. The shul’s substantial out-of-town membership has proliferated over the course of the past twenty years and highlights the profound connections the Rov creates with the shul’s members.

Similar to other shuls, Kol Torah, operates a diverse slate of programming for families. On Shabbos afternoons, there are both Pirchei and Bnos groups, as well as Avos U’Banim and Melaveh Malkas on Motzei Shabbas. During the week, girls participate in Kol Torah (KT) Links learning and social programs. Bar mitzvah aged boys can forge their own special kesher with the Rov by learning hilchos tefillin in preparation of beginning this special mitzvah.

A special feature of the shul is its array of chaburos and shiurim that begin in the early morning and stretch late into the evening. Whether one is interested in a more in-depth approach, covering ground, Daf HaYomi, or practical halacha, the shul provides a plethora of opportunities to further one’s learning. Every evening, the shul hosts a full beis medrash, reverberating with the lively sounds of learning and brimming with infectious energy.

Kol Torah has blossomed into a home for individuals, newly married couples, families, yungerleit, established professionals, retirees and everyone in between. They are united by their shared commitment to grow as individuals and as members of the Baltimore community. With the guidance of Rabbi Berger, the members of Kehillas Kol Torah have built a vibrant connection to Yiddishkeit and HaKadosh Boruch Hu and we look forward to many more years of Aliyah together.
