At least two hundred journalists from around the world are expected to arrive in Israel in the coming days, ahead of US President Joe Biden's official visit.
President Biden will land at Ben-Gurion International Airport on Wednesday afternoon for a two-day visit that will conclude Friday morning with his departure for Saudi Arabia.
As part of the extensive coverage operation directed by the Public Diplomacy Directorate, the GPO will open and manage an international press center to meet the needs of foreign and Israeli journalists alike. The center will be located at the Mishkenot Sha'ananim Cultural and Conference Center, opposite the Old City walls and near the focal points of the visit, and will allow the journalists to closely monitor all of the events and transmit them directly to their agencies around the world. (The Center's opening hours and other details will be issued separately.)
On the eve of President Biden's visit, a special flight will arrive with approximately 100 American journalists who are part of the President's entourage. Among the main networks that have already filed applications for GPO services are the White House correspondents from – inter alia – CNN, Fox News, CBS. The New York Times, The Washington Post and The Wall Street Journal.
GPO Director Nitzan Chen:
"The Israel Government Press Office has, over the years, accumulated vast experience in managing major events with the participation of hundreds and thousands of journalists and is equipped with the most advanced technology, which will be put at the disposal of the global media – print, broadcast and photography – this time as well. Everything has been designed for rapid, updated and quality coverage throughout the visit."
