COVID-19 Positivity Rate Ticks Upwards In Maryland, Rises Above 2%

The Maryland Department of Health released updated coronavirus numbers Friday morning, and the latest summary shows a recent increase in the statewide positivity rate.

The numbers have been updated to include Thursday, April 7. The statewide 7-day positivity rate in Maryland is 2.1%, an increase of 0.04% since the previous day.

The 7-day positivity rate has seen a 0.33% increase since the beginning of the week, rising above 2% for the second day. The last time the 7-day positivity rate was above 2% was on March 1, 2022

There are 1,015,358 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Maryland, 644 new cases have been reported since Thursday.

A total of 161 people are currently hospitalized, an increase of 22 patients since yesterday.

A total of 29 patients are being treated in the ICU, 1 is pediatric.

There have been 14,107 COVID-19 related deaths in the state. To date, 3 Maryland residents have died from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.

Roughly, 95% of the state’s population age 18 and up has gotten one dosage of the vaccination, and 11,657,500 doses have been administered.
