Jerusalem, Israel - Mar. 28, 2022 - The Jerusalem, Israel street corner where King George Street meets Keren Hayesod Street is well known. Tourists for decades have taken photos at the location and met with friends.
The Paris Fountain in France Square at the end of King George Street in the heart of Jerusalem was donated by “The City of Lights” in honor of Israel’s 60th birthday. Paris Mayor Bertrand Delanoe came to Jerusalem for the dedication with former Mayor Uri Lupolianski.
After over a year under construction, the area which became known as the site for the anti-government Balfour Protests has a new look.
The official dedication of the renovation of French Square was held on March 28 in the afternoon. Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Lion smiled broadly and greeted people assembled for the ceremony, before speaking. There was music and food, but no French flags at French Square, as the water in the new fountain was turned on.
The fountain at least in its first few days seems to be a magnet for children and photos taking place.
