US Delegation At Knesset On Jerusalem Freedom Convoy - Day Three (Photo Essay)

Jerusalem, Israel - Feb. 16, 2022 - Israeli Knesset Speaker Mickey Levy greeted a US congressional delegation led by Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi at the Knesset entrance on Wednesday morning, February 16, 2022. At the official welcome ceremony for the Speaker in the Knesset plaza, Levy and the US Speaker placed wreaths at the foot of the memorial for fallen IDF soldiers, located near the entrance to the parliament building.

The American delegation included Mr. Paul Pelosi, U.S. Ambassador to Israel Tom Nides, Rep. Adam Schiff, Chair of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence; House Ethics Committee Chair Rep.Ted Deutch; Subcommittee on State and Foreign Operations Chair Rep. Barbara Lee;  House Committee on Foreign Affairs member Rep. Bill Keating; Rep.Eric Swalwell a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence; House Armed Services Committee member. Ro Khanna; and House Foreign Affairs Committee member Rep. Andy Kim.

The Israeli side, at the Knesset, included Defense Minister Benny Gantz, Minister of Immigration and Absorption Pnina Tamano-Shata, Ambassador Michael Herzog, and MK Ruth Wasserman. 

After the multiple government meetings in the morning, the US delegation went to meet with President Isaac Herzog at Beit Hanasi later in the day.

US flags flying over the entrance of the Knesset were being removed on Wednesday afternoon. For the third day, the Jerusalem Freedom protesters were camped out in tents on land outside the Knesset gates. Smoke was rising from BBQ grills. One man was putting on tefillin nearby. The number of protesters was down as was the noise level and security level. However, the complaints against the government were written in English as well as Hebrew. Canadian and Israeli flags were flying as the protest sparked by the truck drivers in Canada continued in Israel for the third day.
