Israel's Defense Ministry said that it was 'planned in advance and is not linked to any specific scenario'

On Tuesday Israel's Defense Ministry will hold a large-scale exercise in the country's capital Jerusalem, which will simulate a bomb attack using a device that detects radioactivity.

The exercise will take place at Teddy Stadium, a sports complex in southern Jerusalem, and in the adjacent Pais Arena complex.

Israeli police and the Defense Ministry will lead the exercise along with members of the military, fire, and rescue services, the Magen David Adom Ambulance Service, the Health Ministry, the Environmental Protection Ministry, and the municipality of Jerusalem.

The drill aims to simulate how the country's government and emergency services would respond to an attack from forces using a bomb that includes radioactive elements.

In a statement, Israel's Defense Ministry emphasized that the exercise was “planned in advance and is not linked to any specific scenario.”

Numerous security forces will be mobilized in the streets of Jerusalem.

Last October, Israel’s army and Defense Ministry services launched a five-day exercise, simulating a full-scale war with the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah.
