Mi ke’amcha Yisroel! Ichud Hatzalah volunteers who went last week to help a chareidi woman who was in labor at her home in Yerushalayim were horrified to discover the sub-human conditions in the apartment where the family – a total of 16 people – live.
The volunteer turned to businessman Nati Azerzer from Yerushalayim and contractor Banya Haziza, and told them about the chilling situation he had encountered. The two took the initiative and posted on social media a request for help for the family.
Hundreds of Jews donated as much as they could, in addition to professionals who donated material and products.
And so, within a couple of days, the house was renovated and filled with the necessary food and household items.
“When I saw the video of the neglected apartment, I cried non-stop,” Nati said. “We raised close to NIS 70,000,” he says. “In addition, professionals donated new products to the family. It was very exciting, and the family was thrilled. It was mamish hatzolas nefashos.”
Avi Gian, a paramedic from Ichud Hatzalah who was involved, says: “Ichud Hatzalah volunteer Yechiel Stern, who went to help the mother in labor, witnessed the dismal situation. We managed to harness the help of hundreds of people to help in this difficult case. ”
Gian added: “We saw the members of Klal Yisroel here in all its glory. Of course, we are not finished helping here, and we are now working on giving the family regular help until the mother is back on her feet. May they never be in such a situation again.”
