In Maryland, 6,200 full- and part-time jobs are available at 26 locations.
Amazon said it is offering pay of more than $18 per hour on average and those hired will have immediate access to health and dental benefits, paid time off and paid leave, in addition to qualifying for company-run programs, like the college tuition fund.
"With a lot of job opportunities not being abundant, Amazon is doing their part by coming into the community and offering a lot more jobs for people to have," said Cory Boatman, a station operations manager with Amazon.
After this latest round of hiring, Amazon will employ more than 1.3 million people across the country.
