Green certificate expanded and new rules related to upcoming school year decided upon
Israel's coronavirus cabinet on Monday night approved new restrictions, including limiting the number of worshipers for selichot prayers at the Western Wall to 8,000 participants.
The 17 prayer events have already begun at Judaism's holiest site in Jerusalem's Old City. They are said nightly during the Hebrew month of Elul leading up to the High Holidays of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.
The cabinet also decided to divide worshipers at the Western Wall Plaza into 18 sections with the obligation to wear a mask in the open with enforcement carried out by ushers.
The "green certificate" vaccine pass was expanded to include health, education and welfare employees with possible expansion to other areas of the economy to be considered at a later date.
