Hopes that a slight drop yesterday in the number of seriously ill could be a trend, are on hold
Health Ministry data released Tuesday showed a slight increase in the number patients seriously ill with Covid-19, after a one day fall in the figure the day before.
The figure for seriously ill patients stands at 559, with 130 of these cases deemed critical and 89 on ventilators.
The number of new cases recorded yesterday stands at 8,646, brining the total number of infections to 55,323.
The positivity rate from tests conducted yesterday is 6.2 percent.
Health Ministry data showed that among patients aged over 60 those that are unvaccinated are far more likely to become severely ill if infected with Covid than those who are fully or even partially vaccinated.
