Dozens of United Hatzalah volunteers assisted the police in evacuating residents of the towns in close proximity to the blaze in the Jerusalem forest this afternoon.
Volunteers from the Mevaseret Chapter of United Hatzalah assisted in the evacuation of residents from Givat Yearim in order to prevent injury due to the encroaching fire that was approaching the town.
This was the second day in a row that United Hatzalah volunteers assisted in evacuating residents of towns in the Jerusalem hills that were endangered by forest fires. The organization has mobilized ten ambulances, numerous fly cars, a command truck, dozens of ambucycles, and ATVs in order to assist in the operation.
Director of Operations for United Hatzalah Moshiko Moskowitz who was overseeing the operation said: "We are assisting the police in evacuating residents. The entire town is covered in smoke and we are doing everything we can in order to prevent injuries including smoke inhalation and assist the police in managing an orderly evacuation."
