The Hebrew University of Jerusalem ranked highest at 90th place, it's best showing since 2016

Three Israeli universities represented the country in the latest ranking among the world's top 100 academic institutions in the prestigious Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) 2021, also known as the Shanghai Ranking, according to Israeli outlet NoCamels.

All three ranked toward the back of the pack of the leading 100 universities, with The Hebrew University of Jerusalem (HUJI) placing highest at 90th position - its best result since 2016. It also marks a significant improvement on 2020, when it placed in the 101-150 category.

The next-highest ranked was the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot, which came in at 92nd - and Haifa's Technion - Israel Institute of Technology - from which a number of graduates fill positions in Haifa's burgeoning tech environment, as well as beyond Israel's borders.
