Maryland's COVID-19 Numbers Rise As Delta Variant Becomes A Greater Concern

The State Health Department reports total hospitalizations in Maryland stand at 281, the highest in two months, up by 25 over yesterday.

The seven-day positivity rate is at 3.23%, the highest in nearly three months. 

After three days of gains above 500, the number of new cases reported as of this morning is 447. No additional deaths were reported.

The health department reports, as of last Tuesday Maryland detected 266 delta variant cases and nearly 3,000 of the breakthrough cases of fully vaccinated people who later tested positive. That is about 0.0008 of a percent of the nearly 3.6 million people fully vaccinated.

As for vaccines, the state health department reports 77.6% of adults have received at least one dose, nearly 3.6-million people are fully vaccinated, but just 8,000 doses were dispensed yesterday.
