All the suspects were unarmed and apparently not posing a security threat

Israel Defense Forces (IDF) troops on Saturday captured four suspects who crossed into Israel from Jordan. The group was detained and taken to questioning by the Shin Bet security agency.

An additional person who crossed the border was apprehended several hours earlier by the IDF and Border Police.

All the suspects were unarmed.

Israeli security forces said these were likely not terrorists but economic migrants

Earlier this year, IDF arrested two Jordanian citizens who crossed the border into Israel; the two were armed with knives and believed to be terrorists.

Despite signing a peace treaty normalizing relations in 1994, ties between Israel and Jordan are periodically tested over contentious issues such as the Palestinian conflict and security policies regarding the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.
