Tuesday marks the seventh day Maryland's new daily COVID-19 numbers have increased by more than 100 cases.

The Maryland Health Department recorded 155 new cases Tuesday morning, most of the new cases stem from the delta variant.

The death and hospitalization metrics have been increasing slowly and steadily, whereas daily new cases are the biggest difference compared to a month ago.

A new poll from the Economist and YouGov may provide some new clues about why the government is suddenly having such a tough time persuading more people to get vaccinated.

The poll finds one in five people say they believe the government is using the COVID-19 vaccine to inject microchips into Americans, and 51% of those people say it's either definitely or probably true that there are chips in the vaccine.

Scientists say there is absolutely no truth to what they call the false conspiracy theory about the chips.

To date, 3,555,882  Marylanders have received their first dose, while 3,237,569 have received the second dose. So far, 268,326 single-dose vaccinations have been administered as well.
