UAV on routine operation lands in Lebanon due to technical feature
An Israeli drone fell into Lebanese territory on Friday during routine operations due to a technical failure, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Spokesperson's Unit.
"There is no danger of information being leaked," the IDF said in a statement.
Last February, an IDF drone was shot down by Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.
The drone was intended for tactical uses for real-time photography, and fell during an operation.
In another incident earlier this year, IDF forces shot down a drone at the Lebanese border after identifying it as it flew over Israeli territory.
Israel is considered a leader in UAV technology, recently hosting aviation teams from five countries for “Blue Guardian," the first international drone-focused military exercise ever held.
IDF Air Force commander Maj.-Gen Amikam Norkin said: "Israel is a pioneer in the field of UAVs. The exercise is a platform for learning and mutual growth. The exercise has national significance and influence in establishing the air force on the international level."
